Dear NYSABE Membership, Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the Executive Board and Delegate Assembly, it is with sadness that we announce the departure of our beloved friend and colleague, Luis A. Cartagena. He passed away on Sunday, July 22nd, 2013.
Luis, a pioneer and a leader in the field of Bilingual Education, retired as the Principal of PS 25, District 7, Bronx, New York. He was the recipient of the NYSABE Administrator of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding educational leadership and his contributions to our association. In addition to being an excellent educator, Luis enriched the lives of many through his passionate dedication to the arts. He will also be remembered for his limitless love for his family and for his total dedication to the education of all children.
Those wishing to pay their final respects to Luis may do so at the one day viewing, which will take place at the R.G. Funeral Home, 2121 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, NY, (718)-931-1500.
